Garden Update: Summer Solstice 2016

Both the finger lime and second macadamia didn’t make it through the summer this year which was very dry (as the garden photo attests to).  However, these were always marginal plantings in this climate so not a big surprise.

The apples and pears continued to power on and the grape at the side fence showed very strong growth.  Also had a huge passionfruit harvest which lasted about a month.  Passionfruit and ice cream make a wonderful and quick desert.

The other surprise (to me) was that I got a full extra round of potatoes over summer.  The wicking bed seems to provide growing conditions all year round which is great.
